Chapter One Impact Report 2023-24 - Flipbook - Page 39
LOOKING AHEAD: OUR COMMITMENT TO LEARNING AND GROWING
At Chapter One, we're always seeking ways to strengthen our impact. Here's how
we're planning to enhance our work in 2024-25 and beyond:
Measuring our true impact
We're working with expert partners to deepen our understanding of how well our programme works. Through our
collaboration with an economist provided by Pro Bono Economics, we'll better measure how volunteering benefits
our volunteers themselves. We're also partnering with Statisticians for Society to explore using control groups in the
future, helping us understand more clearly the difference our programme makes. Meanwhile, our work with Impact
Advantage will help us better measure our social value across all our key stakeholders. We will be using their
measurement platform, impact.Ai, which goes much further than traditional proxy values.
Building our evidence base
As we grow, we're committed to making our reading assessment methods more robust and
gathering year-on-year comparisons to understand trends. This growing evidence base will help
us improve our programmes and share our learning with the wider education community.
Capturing the voices of our children
Understanding how children experience our programme is crucial. Following successful pilots in 2023-24, we're
launching new ways to hear directly from the children we support. After reading sessions, at four time points
throughout the year, we'll gather children's thoughts about their experiences and progress through child-friendly
surveys. We'll also be sitting down with children individually and in small groups to hear their stories about reading
with their volunteers.
